Laura is the Communications and Marketing Officer for NRCPD<\/a> (The National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People). She is now accredited with the CIPR Specialist Diploma \u2013 Digital Communications<\/a> qualification. It is a relatively new qualification to the CIPR armoury of courses, and Laura decided to enrol on it to help her bring her skills up to date.<\/p>

What did you discover about yourself in the process?<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>

I\u2019ve discovered how much I missed studying and how much more confident I feel about myself and my skills, having completed a postgraduate diploma whilst working pretty much full time!<\/p>

Has studying with nesma helped you in your career? <\/span><\/strong><\/p>

It has shown my employer that I\u2019m taking my career seriously and that my practice and skills are up to date. I last studied for a qualification in PR back in 2013, which was my Master\u2019s degree. A lot of what I learned with nesma can be applied in my current job, especially when thinking strategically and tactically.<\/p>

What did you enjoy most about studying? <\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Being productive, getting to know others on the course and feeling like I was making the most of my time.<\/p>

What type of things do you do differently now? <\/span><\/strong><\/p>

I have a broader knowledge of digital communication tactics, which I have applied to my current communications strategy.<\/p>

Do you have any words of advice for anyone considering a career in PR\/Comms?<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>

Definitely consider studying for a CIPR qualification. It will show your employer that you are committed to and passionate about a career in PR\/Comms. <\/p>

What are the significant changes within your industry at present? <\/span><\/strong><\/p>

There\u2019s a fair amount of campaigning and lobbying coming up. I\u2019m getting excited to put the skills I\u2019ve learned to good use!<\/p>

What do you enjoy most when you aren\u2019t doing the day job?<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>

Genuinely? Eating lots! And travelling.<\/p>

The CIPR Specialist Diploma \u2013 Digital Communications<\/a> is taught and assessed at Masters level. It will furnish you with the knowledge to make social and digital media a practical and integral part of your PR and communications strategy. <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
