Sophie Palleschi is a CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing Level 6<\/a><\/strong> graduate, we caught up with her to find out what impact it has had on her role at Archers Law LLP<\/a><\/strong>.<\/h4>

A CIM qualification at Level 6 develops your strategic marketing skills enabling you to progress your marketing career and perform professionally at a management level.<\/p>

How has studying with nesma helped you in your current role?<\/span><\/h4>

Studying with nesma allowed me to really think about what area of marketing I wanted to focus my career on. I thoroughly enjoyed the strategic module in my diploma and decided to go into a role which would allow me to use the skills I learnt through studying. In my current position, I am involved in the strategic planning for marketing and business development across all 7 units in the firm.<\/p>

What new skills do you now feel you can bring to the job?<\/span><\/h4>

The Level 6 diploma has strengthened my strategic knowledge of marketing and provided a platform to build on the firms marketing strategy. I now feel I have the tools to create
and implement a marketing strategy, as well as, measure and monitor all aspects of it along the way. The course allowed me to develop my analytical and management skills which will benefit the work I do with other functions in the firm.<\/p>

Tell us about your career journey so far?<\/span><\/h4>

After passing my A-Levels, I decided to go to university to study a BA (Hons) in Events Management. I thoroughly enjoyed the variety of modules in the course, and when I left university I took a job with a Business Development organisation for the Energy industry, as Lead Events Coordinator. I gained a range of experience in this role and, in it, discovered my interest in marketing. After this, I took a position in a sandwich manufacturer as Marketing Executive. Here I had the opportunity to make it my own while studying toward my Level 6 Diploma at the same time. Upon completion of the qualification, I decided to narrow my focus on marketing. My current role as Marketing and Business Development Executive at Archers Law LLP combines the skills I have learnt through studying and previous job roles. My day to day role involves all marketing activities for the company, organisation of events and responsibility for the company\u2019s business development activities, including attendance at local networking events and conferences.<\/p>

Has completing the CIM qualification added anything to your day to day role that you didn\u2019t expect?<\/span><\/h4>

The CIM Level 6 diploma in marketing has opened my eyes to just how much impact and influence a marketing function can have in an organisation. It highlighted the importance of companies recognising the need for marketing as a function and allowing it to work effectively to get the most out of it. Being part of CIM has also been great for building up my network in the North-East mainly through events. I now have new connections in a variety of different industries, which is excellent for both my personal and professional development.<\/p>

What words of advice would you give anyone considering a career in marketing or digital marketing?<\/span><\/h4>

It is definitely worth considering studying a CIM qualification. You will undoubtedly benefit from the knowledge and skills you learn, in addition to the network that comes along with it. Everyone I have met has been incredibly supportive, helpful and encouraging. It opens up many different opportunities and chances to keep learning. Gaining a CIM qualification can also put you at an advantage with some employers when looking for a new role. I would also add, don\u2019t be too quick to jump to conclusions about the modules you are going to taking! It\u2019s the ones you don\u2019t think you\u2019ll enjoy as much as, that will surprise you (or it did me!).<\/p>
