Chanice is the Digital Communications Manager for East Midlands Academic Health Science Network and graduated with a\u00a0CIPR Professional PR Diploma<\/a>\u00a0(L7).<\/p>

Why did you choose to study this qualification?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

I chose to study this qualification to strengthen my communications and public relations skills, enhance my knowledge and show my commitment to the field. It was over ten years ago that I completed my degree; despite being nervous and putting it off for some years, I finally felt ready to do the qualification, and I\u2019m so glad I did.<\/p>

What did you discover about yourself in the process? <\/strong><\/p>

I felt I became stronger and more resilient during the process than I realised. Work pressures increased whilst completing the diploma, and I found fitting in work and studying challenging at times. But I exceeded my expectations and discovered I am capable of much more than I realised!  <\/p>

Has studying with nesma helped you in your career?<\/strong><\/p>

Studying with nesma has helped me with my career and professional development by providing several training opportunities and courses to strengthen my professional development.<\/p>

What did you enjoy most studying?<\/strong><\/p>

I enjoyed meeting different tutors for each module, the breadth of knowledge I gained in PR, the mix of case studies and meeting new people.<\/p>

What type of things do you do differently now?<\/strong><\/p>

I feel more confident in my work at a senior level. The qualification allowed me to think more strategically, which has allowed me to have more influence at a higher level.<\/p>

What words of advice would you give anyone considering a career in PR\/Comms?<\/strong><\/p>

Every organisation needs PR\/Comms; it is such an important function. Following my degree in Marketing, Communications and Advertising at Sheffield, I have worked my way up. I would advise anyone interested \/ considering a career to go for it, it\u2019s a constantly evolving sector, and there are always new things to learn.<\/p>

What are the significant changes within your industry at present?<\/strong><\/p>

The rise of social media and reputation management and the increasing number of channels and platforms have all created new communication methods. We are moving further away from traditional methods such as printed materials, e.g. newspapers.<\/p>

What do you enjoy most when you aren\u2019t doing the day job? <\/strong><\/p>

I enjoy spending time with family and friends and going to the gym. I also enjoy honing my skills in doing hair and make-up.\u00a0<\/p>
