Argentine and Newcastle Falcons rugby centre Gonzalo Tiesi is preparing for an equally\u00a0successful second career when he retires from competitive rugby.<\/span><\/h3>\n

While he has been at the Falcons<\/a>, Gonzalo has been preparing for a career off the pitch,\u00a0which is showing the signs of being just as successful as his career on it.\u00a0The 38 capped International Centre was part of the Argentine squad for both the 2007 and\u00a02011 Rugby World Cup and signed for the Falcons in 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the past nine months he has been studying with nesma for his Chartered Institute of\u00a0Marketing (CIM) Certificate in Professional Marketing. He has already passed the\u00a0compulsory modules in \u2018Marketing\u2019 and \u2018Integrated communications\u2019 and has just received\u00a0positive results for\u00a0the elective module on Digital Marketing.<\/span><\/p>\n

nesma director, Veronica Swindale has been working with The Rugby Players\u2019 Association<\/a>\u00a0(RPA) to encourage younger members of the squad to follow Gonzalo\u2019s example to start\u00a0planning for their life after rugby too.<\/span><\/p>\n

Organised as part of The RPA\u2019s Personal Development Programme (PDP), which aims to\u00a0support and guide players with their personal and professional development, a section of\u00a0Newcastle Falcons Academy attended a Brand You workshop, led by nesma. As a result 12\u00a0players went along to the recent North East Expo to explore some of opportunities open to\u00a0them.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFor many of these players, rugby has dominated their life for over 12 years,\u201d <\/span>explained\u00a0Veronica Swindale.<\/span> \u201cnesma has worked with individuals who have also changed careers,\u00a0<\/span>so we can use our experience to help them identify career options other than coaching. We\u00a0<\/span>can give them with some of the confidence many players can lack, too, when they have to\u00a0<\/span>present themselves to prospective employers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Mandy Thompson, RPA Personal Development Manager for Newcastle Falcons said:\u00a0<\/span>\u201cnesma has been hugely supportive of the Personal Development Programme and The\u00a0<\/span>RPA and provided this incredible opportunity for players to attend a Brand You workshop\u00a0<\/span>followed by a communication and career exploration challenge at the North East Expo.\u00a0<\/span>Gonzalo attended both sessions and shared his valuable experience with the players,\u00a0<\/span>encouraging them to develop themselves off pitch and to embrace opportunities open to\u00a0<\/span>them whilst playing\u2019\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n
